Hello hello! I hope everyone is doing well whenever they see this! You can call me Steven. I am 26 years young... and currently having my brain eaten clean by the brainworms that could only be conjured up by Atlus Games, and their incredible Persona 5 series. It is just an incredibly well put together game, really well written, with such compelling side characters, such a hooking premise, and such an excellent plot! I'm currently 100 hours into the game, I'm barely through some 60-70% of it, and I already know that I'm going to snap up Persona 3 the second I'm done, because I'm now hooked on the series.
So, to try and manage my incurable affliction, I have turned here! Because I was stricken by a sudden thought over the weekend... that it would be a really, really cool prompt to explore if there was not one protagonist... but two. Mostly, this came from my observation that there is way too much stuff to do for one person to reasonably do it without doubling playtime, but... there's also a dramatic potential there, I feel!
After all, the Persona 5 protagonist gets chewed up and spat out, and then tossed through the wringer before the game even starts. And... wouldn't it just be interesting to see that dynamic play out across two people, instead of just one? The supportive, yet tense dynamic of two siblings, thrown to the wolves for a crime they did not commit, treated like dirt by a society and system that does not care about them, who at least have each other... and then are able to lean on each other, inspire each other, and act together to change the world. Bonus points if the siblings also have slightly different personalities, and can spark off each other as much as they fit together - The drama! The conflict! The mortifying ordeal of being a teenager made to grow up too fast!
Not to mention the potential for romance plots, of course - I would be more than willing to pair up and play out a romance for each of the siblings. More opportunities for mutual teasing that way.
My current thinking is that I'd write the brother (same name as the protagonist, Ren Amamiya), and that I'd be looking for someone who'd be willing to play the sister. I already have some tweaked ideas for personas in mind, as well as some inkling on how to tweak the plot. Mostly, we'd keep to the main plot of the game, but flesh out some of the internal monologues and external conversations of the protagonist and his fellow Confidants/Phantom Thieves... and try and build up a convincing sibling bond between the two! Fraternal Twins who both got mixed up in the same inciting incident, who have different feelings about the fallout, and who are struggling to get by. I have plenty more thoughts about their potential relationship before the incident, and how it might evolve and grow after... but I feel like that's also better hammered out with a prospective RP match!
