What Oaks DIDN'T say about same gender attraction

I think we've all seen the interview with Oaks and Wickman from 2006.

If you haven't read it, here it is:

Interview With Elder Dallin H. Oaks and Elder Lance B. Wickman: “Same-Gender Attraction" https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/interview-oaks-wickman-same-gender-attraction

It had the famous line about

>‘Yes, come, but don’t expect to stay overnight. Don’t expect to be a lengthy house guest. Don’t expect us to take you out and introduce you to our friends, or to deal with you in a public situation that would imply our approval of your “partnership.”

That's abhorrent. But earlier in the interview he's asked this question:

>PUBLIC AFFAIRS: Let’s say my 17-year-old son comes to talk to me and, after a great deal of difficulty trying to get it out, tells me that he believes that he’s attracted to men — that he has no interest and never has had any interest in girls...What do I tell him as a parent?

His answer is (shockingly) this:

>ELDER OAKS: You’re my son. You will always be my son, and I’ll always be there to help you.

Hey, dipshit, the phrase you forgot to say was THIS: "I love you. I will always love you!"

"You will always be my son" is taken care of by simple biology and requires nothing of the father. He doesn't need your fucking help, he needs your unconditional love. How could you get it so wrong???

DHO has clearly never had to deal with this, or has dealt with it poorly.
