When creating the 3rd generation of Millennium, Newport decided to avoid the industry change to direct injection and turbo charging for it's standard engines, citing reliability and simplicity.
"Newport always has been, and will continue to be, a car manufacturer that provides affordable, economical and reliable cars for the masses" -CEO
With this philosophy the engineers set out to design a new car from the ground up with the following targets: Sub 8.5s to 62 mph, 50 mpg (UK) combined, 80+ reliability NA port-injected engine. All in an affordable, well kitted and good-handling package.
This bore the primary version, the M65:
Engine:
- 1.8L Inline 3
- 165hp .@6800rpm
- 187Nm (138 lbs.ft)@5100rpm
- 36.6% efficient
- 81.7 reliability
0-62: 8.2 seconds
Weight: 1447kg (3190 lbs)
Economy: 50.0 MPG(UK) / 41.6 MPG(US) / 5.65 L/100km
Automation Price: $16500
Service Cost: $823.0
For those wanting more usable low-down torque the M30:
Engine:
- 1.8L Inline 3
- 130hp .@6600rpm
- 180Nm (133 lbs.ft)@1900rpm
- 36.6% efficient
- 81.7 reliability
0-62: 9.2 seconds

Economy: 50.6 MPG(UK) / 42.1 MPG(US) / 5.58 L/100km
Automation Price: $16400
Service Cost: $822.7
And of course, there is a sporty version, the TS. That has been stiffened, lowered, has aero, and is the exception to the no-turbo rule:
Engine:
- 1.8L Inline 3 Turbo
- 260hp .@6400rpm
- 324Nm (239 lbs.ft)@4400rpm
- 35.2% efficient
