Don’t get me wrong I love this game, but there’s quite a lot of flaws that come along with it. To be clear I am a previous player of the tomodachi life on the 3Ds so I’ve played both. Unfortunately I’m finding this new installment to be quite repetitive after while, which I was honestly really bummed about, but here’s a list of things that I think should be fixed, changed, or added, feel free to add your own ideas or discussions on these. Again this is just my hot take on it, the game is great but definitely not perfect.
- The character introductions, they’re fun at first but get boring really fast. I found myself just skipping it after while cause it’s the “same two conversations” “always infront of the house” (this can be fixed easily with more dialogue and to have them meet around your island instead of the same front of house location everytime)
- Needs more facilities, I absolutely love going into the cafe and seeing what the miis are about, but that’s about the only building like this, I could see in the future a “city dlc” where they would add more things like (post offices, gyms, coffee shops, thrift stores, hospitals) it can’t be that hard and would be great to add more variety for interestings interactions
- More items and quirks to unlock at the wishing fountain, it seems I unlocked just about everything, there really should be more items, especially the goods, only 15 is such a shame.
- more goods would be great, (golfing, basketball, metal detectors, phones, skateboards, surf boards, etc. “metal detector to find stuff on the beach, this could lead to a minigame of some sort, where you can obtain a treasure” id love to hear some ideas for goods from you guys
-more mini games, it seems very repetitive with the same ones over and over again, and they get even worse the more custom items you add into the game, it takes the fun out of the zoom in and shadow ones as it picks your custom items WAY to often, this can be fixed easily with adjusting some of those settings, cause when two of the options are your custom items it really makes it to easy.
- more dialogue in general, it seems the little yellow interactions are the same every time, especially with the little riding toy, it’s the same sequence everytime and gets super repetitive.
- more dreams, honestly I was surprised at how often I saw the same dream and I mean like in a row too, this shouldn’t be happening, they either need to fix it to where when you watch a dream the probability of you watching the same dream right after is low. Again easy fix
- I’d like to see a return of the ranking board from the first game, it was fun to see islander rankings, as well as the couple compatibility board, these little things make the game so much more fun to play.
- bring back tomodachi quest, they already have it fleshed out in the dream, I can’t see why they wouldn’t add this back
- the game relays heavily on your dialogue too, if you don’t add in any phrases or words, the game is an empty shell. This is a good thing and also a bad thing, it shouldn’t rely so heavily on this, and should have some content in it. It’s cool to have the option to create, but this shouldn’t hinder the game for people who don’t want to do this. You’re sorta forced to.
- cafe interactions, they should still show the other miis that’s were sitting in the other booths during these talks, it sorta breaks immersion for them to just disappear when you enter the interaction.
- being able to see past your top three friends and food from the character info chart, this was something you could do in the original and I don’t know why it isn’t in here, it like overrides your favorite foods, they use to just fall lower on the list and it was visible still if you selected the food list, not sure why this wasn’t added back
- the balconies on the multi houses, idk why they aren’t accessible areas, miis should be able to relax out there, even if you aren’t in the houses to see miis on the balconies could be really cool, it’s a shame it’s just a filler for houses with less than 4 people in it, seems like a waste.
- in the cafe you can show the miis the drinking station but not the capsule machines, it would be cool if they added a little hidden minigame there, where you could spend a $1 with a mii to get a free prize from the capsule machines, another way to get a treasure
- they need to bring back the concert hall too, the music still plays in the cafes, I’m not sure why they scrapped it
- lastly the babies, and I don’t even have to go into detail, just way to rushed
