i truly have no idea what caused this all to happen, so here’s a timeline hoping someone (anyone) can help me understand.

thursday night, the lid accidentally partially fell into the tank after adding api general cure to the tank (used before no issues, top was the stupid foldable glass top) last night (friday) i went to feed them and couldn’t find anyone. then found my favorite guy stuck in the filter (he had passed already).. then next found 3 more already passed, and 1 struggling. i moved him to a hospital tank which seemed to actually make it worse and he passed minutes later, so now scared to move others.

immediately i did about a 40% water change. replaced filters and added back in media balls from before the medicine. turned off all the lights and fed them some of my regular snails. ammonia was a little high but it’s been higher in the past no issues. nothing else new for the last 2 months except a new snail food source from a friend since my bladders stopped producing as much. i had 7 peas and 2 otto’s in a 20gal long heavily planted and multiple hiding spots and have all been fine for months together.

i have two peas left and one oto. tonight the peas are very dark in color, and laying at the bottom of the tank. they look at me but aren’t swimming around. what the hell happened and how can i save the only 2 left? about to do a water change now and i dont know how long this will take to be approved or seen but has anyone ever been through this? i’ve been distraught.

my rear camera is broken so unfortunately pictures are really hard right now, but here’s an older pic of my favorite little guy named puppy 😭
