Is this the right mindset?
I’m based in Canada and currently considering joining WFG part-time mainly to learn the insurance/financial industry, improve communication and sales skills, and get licensed while keeping my full-time job.
My long-term goal is NOT to stay dependent on MLM-style recruiting forever. I’m more interested in understanding the business, gaining experience as an insurance agent, learning financial products, and eventually opening or joining an independent brokerage in the future.
For people who have experience in the Canadian insurance industry:
- Is WFG a good starting point purely for learning and licensing?
- What skills/knowledge transfer well into running an independent brokerage later?
- Would you recommend starting elsewhere instead?
- What mistakes should beginners avoid?
Looking for honest advice from people with real experience in Canada.
