New Shed on Flagstone

New Shed on Flagstone

Hey everyone, I’m looking to tear down an old and poorly built shed and build/buy a new 8x10 one that will be put in the corner of my flagstone patio. Before I pull the trigger, I wanted to get some advice from this sub.

As you can see, there is large, irregular flagstone (likely set on a sand/gravel base, but they feel very solid. I'm also going to be replacing the fence in the future and don't care about the wheeled portion that currently doesn't actually open, so disregard that.

I'm concerned about the base and leveling. The stones are pretty flat but I've read that you can't build a wood shed on flagstone. What should I do? If I remove them I won't have a perfectly square/rectangular section for the shed base to built.

I’ve attached a photo of the area. Would love to hear from anyone who has built over stone or if I should suck it up and pull the stones out to do a proper gravel pad instead.

Thanks in advance!

5.44 - Renewing now or in Feb 2027?

Hi all, I bought a house in Feb 2023 for 1.25million, with 390k down at 5.44 for 30 years on a 4-year fixed term. Total mortgaged amount was 860k. We've been trying to pay down pretty aggressively and now owe about 750k on the house and I'm starting to think about renewal options.

I'm now about 10 months from renewal with RBC and want to figure out my options. Will the bank reach out to me closer to the renewal date with a "standard" offer? Is it worthwhile shopping around now and potentially pay the IRD, or am I too far out? Our HHI has increased since the purchase so I'm not concerned about any verifications they want to do.
