Partner's company being closed
My partner's just been told they're closing the lab where she works.
It is part of a big group so no bankruptcy, just closing this one facility.
She's been there since October'24 and with a permanent contract since Oct 25.
The lab will close with one month notice period, so end of June.
They want her to sign a settlement agreement as follows:
Transitievergoeding + severance package of around 2 months gross + one extra month of salary, as they'd terminate the contract at the end of July if she signs.
All this, if she signs by Friday next week (one week time seems very very short for this and actually they want some sort of feedback already on Wednesday).
She's asked for some free legal advice, but the appointment is on Thursday, one day before the employer's deadline.
What do you think the best path forward is?
We are planning to ask for an extension of the deadline and for the company to pay all the fees for legal advice, if she'll need to lawyer up.
Ideally, we'd like to get the most possible amount of money as severance package without losing access to unemployment benefits.
At the same time, it's difficult to evaluate if the offer they've made is good or bad, and we're afraid that with such tight deadline making the right decision could be difficult.
Any help is appreciated, thank you!
