Legal Services Advice
Hello all,
I am relatively new to the community and still am very much in the self exploration portion but I have found community here in ways I could not have possibly imagined. I am a licensed attorney, I mostly do civil litigation work, but as part of my own exploration journey I would like to do some volunteer work that would benefit the trans community at large, or at least help make someone’s day a little better. I am in the Midwest, KS/MO area, so I understand the legal landscape here is rough. If anyone could point me to any legal support organisations that offer basic legal services to the trans community I would very much like to volunteer as an attorney. Even if it’s just doing traffic tickets, I know how helpful an attorney can be in a lot of matters and I want to be a resource how I can. Any suggestions you all might have are very welcome.
EDIT: This would include helping the changing of birth certificate. I haven’t done the legal research or anything yet but I think I court order might have to be involved. If there’s any organisation in MO that does this, I’d very much like to volunteer.
SECOND EDIT: my exploration at this point is remaining private so I can’t do specific 1:1 but feel free to message me with any lawyer questions. I can absolutely point you in the right direction or whatever (don’t always trust Ai, it gets a ton wrong sometimes). I’d love to be your lawyer friend!
