Few Last Minute Things For Remaining Days to Boost Marks in Prelims

Details you should include:

  1. Rivers and their tributaries, their flowing sides etc.

  2. Which dam on which river.

  3. Minerals: Found where, who produces,

  4. Kings and Kigndoms: Who, when, where

etc etc

Hello everyone, D-Day is almost upon us, and the anxiety must be beginning to shoot through the roof. To keep it very, very short and to the point, here are a few things that are likely to help you avoid the confusion and might help you gain a few marks. These things have worked well for me:

  • Make Audio Notes: You can make quick audio notes on the areas that confuse you. You can simply speak in your own language, as if you are revising your notes, record it using your phone recorder, and then listen to it on a loop to avoid confusion. You have been engaging your visual memory for a long. It's time to engage your audio memory, too.
    • Your Audio Notes, if you make them, should be limited to 2-3 mins max and should be around key areas. I'm attaching a screenshot of the audio notes that I made for myself. I used to listen to them while taking a walk, having meals, etc. They really gave me 4-6 marks. I have attached the screenshot in the comments
Subject Audio Notes You Can Make For
Polity Schedules, Amendment List, Sources of Constitution, etc
Ancient History Ashokan Edicts, Administration of Various Kings, Chronology of Kingdoms, Authors etc
Modern History Political Org and their Leaders, Books and Authors, Appendix of Spectrum etc
Geography Minerals and Location, Agriculture Production order, Dams and Water Bodies etc
Science and Tech Less Predictable but AI, Defence Advancements, Space Mission etc

Details you should include:

  1. Rivers and their tributaries, their flowing sides, their source etc.
  2. Which dam on which river?
  3. Minerals: Found where, who produces, India's dependency, key ores etc
  4. Kings and Kigndoms: Who, when, where, who visited, etc etc

Revise your test papers: You didn't lose your mental peace and sanity in all the Abhyasses, Anubhavs, The Whatevers only to not touch them in the end. Keep going through your test papers to see what kind of optionals trapped you and how.

Key PYQ Themes: UPSC loves it's theme and keeps on repeating them. I'm sure there are tons of material on these themes or key areas. You don't have to do the research by yourself. Use any of this reliable material, but please do revise that topic on your own capacity and through your own source.

Avoid any new test paper now: I think solving new test papers at this point should be strictly avoided to add any more burden on your brain. You need your wits, and test papers are most likely to make you lose your sanity.

This week: Finish whatever is the portion of the syllabus that is left for you. Try to be done with the CA readings this week as next week any new reading will likely burden you more and more.

Last 7 days: Pick one subject a day, and its questions, its exceptions, and its traps should be revised through the heart. You are not allowed to miss on the things that are in your notes, but you couldn't spot them in the paper.

This post is likely to help you even more: How I crossed the prelims hurdle thrice (By more than 20 marks): Shaping the Attitude for next 45 days : r/UPSC

All the best, everyone. May you win :)
