I'm looking to get a new keyboard for my Surface but for [various reasons] I'd like to buy off brand and not Microsoft. However when I look for one all of the options are blue-tooth/wireless and I neither need nor want another bloody thing in my life that demands repeated charging. Price-wise so long as it's not more expensive than the Microsoft branded variety I'm fine with it.
Are there any 3rd party Surface compatible keyboards that use the pins on the base as a connector to the Surface itself rather than needing their own battery + wireless connection? I'll even take a USB tether for function if it can still physically slot into the base for the physical connection - I like having the stable physical link between tablet and keyboard while I do art. As to other factors I'm not very fussy but have some preference for darker colours.
