AITA for using the wrong gender bathroom?
I was at chipotle with my family, and suddenly, my 4 year old kid tells me he needs to go potty. I went to the woman's side but it was locked/in use. I saw the man's side was vacant and used it. It should be noted these are individual bathroom (just one toilet). I take him and let him do his business. Unfortunately he missed/overshot and I had to clean that up. The next patron outside was banging on the door.
We cleaned up, washed up, and walked out. This 40 something year old guy was glaring and started to shout at me. Saying things like I'm being ridiculous, being privileged to use a man's bathroom and that would never fly for the other gender, and how I'm being a poor example to my son (laced loud and with profanity).
I covered my son's ears as he started to cry (he's a sensitive child in the first place - we think might also have mild autism - yet to be diagnosed, his doctor did notice something off). I said to gtfo out of my way (since he was in my path of leaving). My husband also waived the staff over. They got there and he was kicked out of chipotle.
Was I the AH for using wrong gender single person restroom in a restaurant? (also I called the cops on the dude since I noticed he was loitering around but left when cops pulled up).
