Hey guys, I am currently thinking of joining NIT Surathkal but I had doubts regarding the clubs and facilities.

Does NITK have anything like the tineker's lab present in IITs which provides access to 3d printing , CNC ,arduinos, raspberry Pi because I am very interested in building stuff.

Thank you 🙏

I am a 2nd semester ISE student from Bengaluru. I have been following this subreddit for many months, and I’ve noticed that the majority of posts are about placements, DSA, resumes, and college rants. There are very few discussions about projects or real technical decisions.

Why is engineering in India often seen only as a pathway to companies like Google or Microsoft, or as a way to get a ₹1 crore package, rather than as actual engineering? In countries like the USA, South Korea, and even China, there seems to be more focus on innovation, research, and building technology.

Why are so few students interested in creating tech companies or working on R&D projects? Also, after 2022, everyone suddenly started talking about AI. Before that, very few people showed interest in AI or robotics. Why did this change happen?

After 12th grade, why do students compare colleges and branches mainly based on salary packages? Isn’t getting a job more about individual capability than just the college?

Also, why do people often make fun of those who are working on startups or building something on their own, especially judging them based on their resources or facilities?
