Hey,

I’m trying to figure out if my issue is BIOS-related or hardware failure and would appreciate some advice.

Specs:

  • Gigabyte GA-AB350-Gaming (rev 1.x)
  • Ryzen 5 2400G
  • RX 560
  • 2× 8GB DDR4 2400MHz
  • BIOS: F25

Problem:
My PC sometimes fails to POST. It powers on (fans + RGB), but there is no display and no keyboard response.

This issue started after I removed both RAM sticks and also cleared the CMOS battery while trying to fix random freezes (even while idle on desktop).

After testing:

  • One RAM stick works fine in all slots
  • The other RAM stick does not POST in any slot anymore
  • The system only boots reliably with a single stick (the only stick, which is now working)
  • Using both sticks together results in no POST

Question:
should i update BIOS from F25 to a newer version to improve RAM compatibility/stability after a CMOS reset, or is it more likely that one RAM stick is simply faulty?

I’ve had similar random no-POST issues in the past that sometimes fixed themselves, so I’m not 100% sure if this is BIOS-related or hardware failure.

Any advice appreciated.
