hey vintage digital camera shooters, it's been a while!

thanks to you guys, i had won the Nikon P7000 about a year ago for this shot.

i've been wanting to share my thoughts on the camera, but life got really busy and this camera comes with a learning curve.

currently, i don't really feel like editing my pictures. luckily, this camera can produce stunning SOOC pictures. theoretically, this could be your 1 always carrying it with you camera as it's not heavy, has an excellent zoom range (allowing for versatility from macro to landscape), and the JPEGs are very sharp. on the con side: the P7000 can be quite sluggish (RAWs can take a few seconds, another reason to be a JPEG shooter) and it's very hard to avoid blown-out highlights as you can see in pic 2.

after some research, this thread offered some helpful tips. blown-out highlights seem to be a common issue for the P7000 series due to lack of dynamic range. reducing the contrast and saturation helps a bit. also, did you know that the camera has a zoom control feature? program in your preferred focal length(s). then hold the FN button as you zoom to quickly get to your preferred focal length. really convenient!

i'd also recommend playing with the WB. the beautiful shots in this post inspired me to set it similarly. when you just capture the light right, you get a really beautiful glow like in pic 1. i also think, the camera is great for B&W shots. will be experimenting more in the future.

so overall, i'm still learning. just stopped by to say thanks to you guys and the sub's mod u/thevmcampos for this amazing gift which allows me to play with another great vintage digital camera!
