The bad influence of the bank lobby is a shame

New version of the clarity act has been released today... people don’t realize how disruptive yield-bearing stablecoins could have been for traditional banks.

Blockchain basically made it techniclaly possible for regular users to hold digital dollars that are:

  • fully liquid
  • transferable 24/7
  • globally accessible
  • and backed by short-term US Treasuries generating ca4–5% yield

In practice, this could’ve turned stablecoins into something like a global high-yield checking account.

For the first time, average people couldve directly benefited from Treasury yields instead of banks capturing most of the upside to fund their skyscrapers and bonusses.

And thats exactly why regulators and banks pushed back so hard.

The compromise basically says:
“You can use stablecoins for payments...but they shouldnt compete with bank deposits.”

Feels like a huge missed opportunity for consumers tbh and I have never felt how rich people are f++++ with the working class so directly. And I know that this will not be in the news and 99% of people dont even realised they got f...ed by the bank lobby today. Its really sad.

Hiding Caches is frustrating

Okay, so I’m pretty new to geocaching. I found my first 50 caches and decided I wanted to start hiding some myself, so I bought 10 PETlings. So far, so good.

When checking the map, I avoided all the red circles and assumed that meant the remaining areas would be fine for hiding caches. Keep in mind: I live in a city with a very high cache density.

Well… apparently avoiding the red circles is NOT enough.

Instead, I keep having to move the coordinates around randomly until I eventually hit a spot the reviewer accepts ... basically by pure luck, as far as I can tell.

The reasons I get are things like this:

Reviewer 1:

>There are distance conflicts with another cache or its waypoints. Please note that multis and mystery caches have additional waypoints that are not visible to you but are still relevant for distance checks.

Okay, so draw a red circle in that area....

Reviewer 2:

>Distance is always measured “as the crow flies.” Please also keep in mind that multis and mystery caches have additional hidden waypoints that are checked by reviewers as well.

>For understandable reasons, I cannot provide further details about other caches. If necessary, you can either find those caches yourself or contact the owners directly.

Okay, so draw a red circle in that area....

==========

I know I can ask reviewers to pre-check coordinates first, but honestly: why can’t I simply see on the map where hiding a cache is allowed?

I’m not trying to triangulate hidden cache locations or ruin the fun of finding them. I just want to place a cache without playing coordinate roulette.

Right now, I’ve already tried 6 different locations that were outside all visible red circles — and every single one got rejected. Maybe I have luck at try 7 or 8? Which means I would submit almost 100 coordinates to hide my 10 cahces?

At this point I’m wondering: why should I keep investing time into hiding geocaches if success depends on RANDOM CHANCE?

It’s honestly really frustrating.
