Last spring versus now. Happy with the results. Got the weeds knocked down (particularly wild violet) Hoping I can keep it looking thick and healthy through the summer months!

EDIT

For those asking how I did it:

• we moved in to this house in February of 2025, I started spraying/pulling weeds in the spring. To kill the violet I sprayed Tricoplyr mixed with Methylated Seed Oil as a surfactant. Had fantastic success, but definitely took multiple rounds, and I still spot spray when I see it popping up now. We had some crab grass popping up, so I started mixing Quinclorac in with the Tricoplyr and MSO.
• In the fall I mowed short, power raked, over seeded (Macho Mix from GrassPad), covered with peat moss, and then made sure to keep the soil moist by watering for about 15 mins 3 times a day. I fertilized with Loveland Golf Course Starter AFTER seed had germinated. https://www.reddit.com/r/lawncare/s/F5cdTCV8MH
• As winter rolled around I started putting down Loveland Snowman Winter fert.
• In March I put down a pre-emergent , (and I’ll probably put it down again this week). Ive continued to spot spray the violet with tricoplyr, but have started adding in speedzone to kill the other random weeds.

Being in the KC Metro we get plenty of moisture and temps are pretty ideal in Fall/Spring. But summer can be brutal so hoping I can keep the grass alive through the coming heat.
