I, 26F, have been talking to a guy 30M for about 3 months. We’ve been on ~6 dates, all of which went really well..good conversation, chemistry, and he initiated several of the earlier dates.
Since then, we’ve kept up pretty consistent communication. He texts multiple times every day, engages with what I say, asks about my life, shares about his (including work stress), and is generally warm, supportive, and playful. He doesn’t seem distant or like he’s fading.
However… he has completely stopped initiating plans.
We haven’t seen each other in a few weeks, and he hasn’t suggested meeting up again. There’s also no “I miss you” or romantic pursuit energy.. just consistent, comfortable conversation.
Context:
He’s been under a lot of work stress lately and feels like he’s fighting to keep his job which he’s expressed (big board meetings as he’s c suite, possible org changes, etc.)
We live two hours away from each other
He has a very strict routine that he doesn’t like to deviate from..
He’s more of a logical/structured personality and not super emotionally expressive
He still engages fully when we talk.. this isn’t dry texting
What’s confusing me is:
If he wasn’t interested, why keep up this level of engagement?
But if he is interested, why no recent effort to actually see me?
It currently feels like I’m getting:
emotional connection + consistency, but zero forward momentum
I’m planning to say something like:
“I miss you, when are we seeing each other next?”
But I’m trying to understand first:
Am I overthinking a temporary lull due to stress / personality… or is this just someone who likes me but isn’t actually trying to build anything?
Would love outside perspectives.
