Hi. I’m in Ohio. My current term runs through May. I just received my renewal paperwork and noticed some additional endorsements added to the renewal. One pertaining to wind and hail damage now being ACV.
However, I am likely filing a claim before my current policy term ends as a result of recent wind and hail damage.
I called my agent, she’s not helpful. She reaches out to the insurance company underwriter and they said my policy is ACV for roof damage and will be depreciated heavily due to age of our roof.
I’ve gone through my existing documents and that is not in there anywhere. I have RCV in current policy that is still active through May. A switch to ACV is in my upcoming renewal package as a new endorsement, but not part of any of my existing policy documents.
Is it legal for the company to add an endorsement to my policy mid-term without my consent?
Is the insurance company trying to sneak one past me by telling me it’s ACV?
Thanks in advance for help and guidance.
