Hey, I’m posting to ask if any of you on fluvoxamine have managed to stay at a low dose and experience its benefits. If you have: what dosage, how long have you been taking it, when did you start noticing improvement, and how has it helped you? What negative symptoms do you still experience while being on such a low dose/what do you wish it helped with?

I was on Wellbutrin (150 mg, the lowest dose) for two years before tapering off to start fluvoxamine. It’s been almost a month (~3 weeks) that I’ve been on 25 mg of fluvoxamine and my psych wants to bump me up to 50 mg.

Right now it feels like the meds aren’t noticeably helping with much, BUT they aren’t doing anything bad either. The only side effect I experienced from fluvoxamine is pretty intense jaw clenching. My depression has gone untouched, which sucks, and I can still get a bit agitated. Wellbutrin was doing some heavy lifting on that front. With the luvox I do feel more calm at times and I do my “things” (skin picking, googling, ruminating) a little bit less. But I still do them.

I know 50 mg is usually the starting point to see any therapeutic benefits. However, I’m wondering if it’s worth staying at this baby 25 mg dose for a little longer to see if it might be enough to be effective? It hasn’t been a full month and I want to give it the time it needs to work. At the same time, I know it’s goofy to keep taking a medication that doesn’t help me only because it doesn’t do any harm either lol. So I’m hoping reading about other people’s experiences might help me decide

PS: my psych suggested 25 mg in the morning and 25 mg at night. Any advice on splitting vs. not splitting a daily dose is welcome
