Aitah for kicking out my roommate
So I’ve had one of my friends (f23) living with me (m21) for about a year and she’s been living on my living room floor after I finally moved out from having roommates to living on my own and a one bedroom one bathroom apartment it hit the one year anniversary and she has maybe given me $200 mind you my rent varies. The water bill is factored in so it can go anywhere between 800 and 1000 where I live it’s not cheap but it’s not expensive but she runs up my electric bill runs the AC while I’m not home. I have my cats. They love it when I set the AC on 78 but she always wants to 70 or lower and I live in Tucson, we hit 100° weather almost daily in the summer never had help with the electric bill. Only once did I get help with the rent don’t get me wrong. She has helped me so much “ emotionally” and she didn’t get a job. She didn’t start applying till four months after she moved in and quit her job and that’s when I gave her her first deadline and I told her as long as she tries to get a job I’ll support her but honestly, I can’t even pay rent. I’m supporting a grown adult that is older than me. She is 23. I am 21 and I’ve been supporting her for over a year. I sacrifice everything to make sure there is food on the table. I don’t really know what the fuck to do at this point all I know is she low-key needs to get the fuck out but I don’t want her sleeping on the street so like am I the asshole for kicking her out even if I know she has nowhere to go.
EDIT: Im gonna give her a time frame. Feels reasonable she has a month. I am laying for my home and I deserve to have it. Feels f**ked up to say but it is what is. I wont help anyone if they wont help themselves. 🥲
