6 year old son had a tantrum and threw the remote at our 77" G3, denting and cracking the screen. it's about an inch long dent, and hairline splintered out cracks. I'm at a bit of a loss of what to do...as a parent and an owner of a now non-functioning and very expensive piece of wall art.
First and foremost I plan to leave the tv broken for quite some time as a teaching moment. You break the tv, you get no tv. But eventually, I want my tv back...or something comparable.
Can anything be done to repair the damage through a panel replacement? If so is this a service LG provides or is there a reputable professional service someone has worked with in the Northern VA area? Or...do I just need to suck it up and replace the whole thing when the time comes?
****Update with some context.****
I appreciate all of the suggestions and comments.
A couple people pointed out the exorbitant cost of repair vs replace. Unless LG wanted to have mercy on me, seems like the answer is replace (and maybe add a screen protector).
What’s more important to me is correcting the behavior so it doesn’t happen again in the future, and to several commenters points - makes him appreciate what he has, and the value of things while understanding he did a bad thing but is not a bad kid.
I have 3 kids, they make mistakes. He’s never done anything this destructive before and is already beating himself up pretty badly about it. Mostly because he knows his sisters will be sad they won’t be able to do Friday night movie night. It’s unfortunate that it happened but in the end objects can be replaced. I still love my kids even when they do boneheaded things.
Thanks all.
