Another Engine Braking Post

Hey all. I’ve had my ’19 for 6.5 years now and I’m still wondering how effective engine braking is. most opinions I see online are:

- you’re using less fuel when in gear and slowing down compared to being in neutral

- you’re causing less brake wear, but those are expendable compared to clutches and transmissions.

- you can have quicker reactions in traffic if you’re still in gear

I don’t disagree with any of those points, even if they’re close to negligible, but my question is this: for those with my gen/engine, do you find that engine braking actually slows you down a significant amount without having to be in crazy high RPMs?

Anecdotally, I find that when Im exiting a highway at 70mph and shift into 5th, or 4th at 60mph, I don’t slow down any faster than being in neutral. Going to 2nd at 30mph slows me down a bit more than being in neutral, but that’s the only noticeable speed/gear. What is your experience?
