
Latte of the Day
Cooked some strawberries over the stove on a low flame, got distracted and forgot to check on the cook. By accident, this resulted in a strawberry compote that caramelized and had a thicker viscosity.
I decided to mark the day with a thicker matcha latte, using ‘Boring’ (brand) barista quality Oat Milk, and 4 grams of Higashiyama-en Joen matcha (whisked thick) for good effect.
This matcha blend has good umami (marine notes) that pairs well with Oat milk and strawberry 🍓 compote. For anyone accustomed to Uji based matcha - Joen (produced in Nishio) has wakame/seaweed notes reminiscent of Uji based heritage brands. Delicious!
