Please Fill Out Your 2026 Census (Took Me 21 Minutes Online to Fill Out 70 Questions)
The 2026 Canadian Census, consists of two main types of questionnaires: Most households receive a short-form with roughly 12-20 basic questions, while about 25% of households receive a long-form with approximately 70 questions covering detailed demographic, socioeconomic, and housing data
Yes, it's a little tedious, a wee bit intrusive and somewhat annoying, BUT...
Skipping the census doesn’t “Send a Message.”
It erases your community from the numbers.
The census isn’t run by politicians. It’s done by Statistics Canada so governments (all levels) know where people actually live and what they need.
That data is used for:
health care planning
schools and childcare
housing and infrastructure
transit and local services
supports for seniors and families
Etc ...
When people don’t respond, their area will look smaller or less in need than it really is
And then we all hear:
“Why are services so bad here?”
Because the data says fewer people are here than actually are.
You don’t hurt Ottawa by ignoring the census. You shortchange your own City
Fill it out. Be counted.
This is how communities get what they actually need.
