The guy responsible for Conestoga’s International student explosion was fired today

Editing to add: you won’t see him on the sunshine list because he’s an independent consultant who gets a bonus for every student signed up. No one will ever know how much money he made.

Here’s his LinkedIn announcement: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/bhanu-vashishth-76321b17_16-years-10-months-today-my-chapter-at-share-7452082921936596994-uuck

Curious what everyone's thoughts on Center in the Square are

Hi everyone,

I really love how beautiful CITS is, but there's barely one or two acts in a calendar year that appeals to me. For reference, I'm 31yo and would love to attend more plays, concerts or orchestras but the majority of all acts are tribute bands that were popular before the turn of the millenium.

Perhaps the target audience for the center is an older generation but I'd love to see if other people feel similarly to how I do and if there's a way for us to get the organizers/management to try harder to cater to younger audiences

Hidden restaurant gems!

Hello all,

As the title suggests, I’m on the lookout for restaurant recommendations for restaurants in the area!

I’m generally looking for anything that is high quality and reasonably priced. Open to anything really (Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Canadian etc.). I’m a big foodie and I feel like I haven’t really explored the area too much.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Time for a quick paddle today in Victoria Park.

Boating IS allowed in Victoria Park.

I support the return of rentals on this beautiful waterway in the core of our city.

Would you rent a canoe?

Printing Card Stock

Hi!

I'm looking to print some large size signs (36 x 24) and small favour cards and other materials for my friend's bridal shower.

What is the best place in KW to do something like this? Looking for something on card stock as well, not just regular printer paper

Avoid Doing Your Auto Service Work at Cambridge Toyota

On April 4, 2026, I had my vehicle 2020 Camry to Cambridge Toyota to do maintenance service #2. Following service items easily followed up by customers after service done, which are including in the service package, were not performed at all while I picked the vehicle up, but Cambridge Toyota fully charged me the service prices of the service package.

1.       “Remove & inspect cabin air filter”

Finding: I used a piece of transparent tape to seal a small area of the cabin air filter cover after last service. After this service, the tape is still intact and over the place. That means no body took the cabin air filter out from its place to do inspection during this service

2.       “Remove & inspect engine air filter”

Finding: I used a piece of transparent tape to seal a small area of the engine air filter box after last service. After this service, the tape is intact and still over the place. That means no body opened the engine air filter box to inspect the filter during this service.

  1. “Lubricate locks, latches and hinges”.

Finding: door locks and hinge area are still covered by dust and dusty spots, there is no signs of cleaning up or covering by fresh liquid lubricant spray (see attached photos).

4.       “Remove wheels & visually inspect brake pads, calipers, rotors, brake lines and hoses”. While the advisor asked me any concerns, I reported potential rear brake griding noise. The service found “rear outboard pads metal on metal”, and it charged me extra $84.98 plus tax, which is supposed to be done and including in the service package.

New to town! 24M moved from North Van – looking for hiking buddies & eco-minded friends 🌲

Hey everyone!

I just officially landed in Waterloo a week ago after moving here from North Vancouver, BC. I’m 24 and looking to build up a local social circle and find people to hit the trails with.

Back west, I spent most of my time in the mountains, so I’m eager to see what Ontario’s terrain has to offer. I’m a big fan of being outdoors and am pretty passionate about environmental conservation and looking after the earth.

I'm looking for:

Hiking/Outdoor buddies: If you’re down for a weekend trek or a sunset walk, let me know.

Social groups: Any recommendations for clubs or meetups for people in their 20 to 30s?

Eco-Volunteering: If you know of any local groups doing restoration work or trail maintenance, I’d love to get involved.

Also, what are your absolute favorite trails in the region? I’ve heard good things about the Walter Bean, but I’d love the "locals only" recommendations.

Looking forward to meeting some of you.

Landlord is lying to my references to stop me from moving out. What should I do?

I’ve been at my current place for 3 years and I’m trying to move out, but my landlord is sabotaging every application I submit.

I’ve applied to three places so far, and they all declined me after calling him for a reference. I found out he’s telling them I don’t pay rent on time and that I’m messy. Both are total lies. I have every single e-transfer receipt showing I’ve paid in full and on time for years, and I keep the house spotless.

The issue is that he comes by 1–2 times every month for "inspections." He gives the legal 24-hour notice, but he’s really just snooping. I usually follow him around because I don’t trust him, and now he’s telling potential landlords that I’m "troublesome."

What am I supposed to do to make this better? I feel trapped because his lies are stopping me from getting approved elsewhere. How do I handle the landlord reference part if he’s just going to keep trashing me?

Eurofood shoppers, does anyone know where to buy Teekanne tea locally?

While visiting Austria I fell in love with Teekanne tea, specifically Fruit Kiss (also called Sweet Kiss, it's a lovely strawberry and cherry blend) and recently it's becoming increasingly difficult to find a retailer that ships to Canada, or one that offers it without outrageous shipping costs in the range of $40-$60. For a couple boxes of tea... It's just not practical.

Does anyone know of local European grocers that carry this brand?

TIA!

Kitchener in-person tech meetups?

I'm new to the KW area and have been looking to find some in person events to go to. I work in the tech industry and would love to find a tech meet up of two to go to. I can't seem to find much though...on Meetup of otherwise.

Anyone know of anything?

Things to do in KW?

I looked at past posts but figured I'd make my own to get more specific suggestions. I have a few days after uni exams without anything to do. I'm from a northern rural town so I like trying new (safe) things that are only offered in the city!

I've done some stuff in Sudbury and a few things around here, just curious if there's anything else I'm not aware of that I should check out! I'm 18, so no alcohol, and I really like museums (haven't been to any here yet).

KaleMart24

Hey everyone! 🥬

Just wanted to share that we recently opened (soft launch) a new convenience store in Kitchener called KaleMart24.

We’re trying to do something a bit different from a typical convenience store — focusing more on healthier options. We’ve got fresh açaí bowls, protein smoothies, matcha, and some grab-and-go food like ciabattas, wraps, and muffins.

Also bringing in some niche products and better-for-you alternatives that are usually harder to find around here.

If you’re nearby, feel free to drop in and check it out. Would genuinely love to hear feedback from the community.

We’re also on Uber Eats if you want to try the açaí bowls from home.

what in the meth...

If the worst thing that someone has to worry about when they feel the need towander through my yard is that they have to see my belongings, then maybe they can just enjoy their Cakewalk somewhere else. it seems like about 300 people Are spending their cakewalks feeling self-righteous on Reddit.

If they really want something to complain about they can Cakewalk their ass all the way down to the landfill and dig around for my mass spectrometer, or all my blacksmithing equipment, or all my f****** chainsaw carving equipment, or all my fucking throwing knivesor my custom 50 f******* lb hammer or 30 lb f******* splitting axe. and three pallets of Aritzia leggings from the landfill when bylaw came and plundered them. I mean cleaned them. four separate times in just over a year. oh yeah they took my garbage cans the one time too. oh yeah and my downspouts... f*** those malfeasant pieces of f***** garbage. If they end up in jail they can count themselves lucky.

"look at me! I care about things..... what are you doing to that porch!?"
