AITA for calling my friend out for being mad about a family trip?
Okay so.. my family and I never really had a lot of money, I’m middle class yes, but only because my mother works so hard. In 2015 we had our first and only holiday together. We went to Disneyland and had and amazing time but since then we haven’t gone anywhere or done anything really. My family does nothing together tbh, we don’t have family trips or weekend trips I always kinda had to entertain myself which I’m fine with. But my friend recently whined about her trips with her family and how she couldn’t go clothes shopping and buy anything she really wanted to. And she goes on holiday to some other place with her parents every holidays, and she always whines about something. While I’m here already grateful if me and my parents eat together for once. So my friend (18F) me (19M) were talking about places we wanna visit and I mentioned i really wanna go to Japan, and for context my parents always promised me for my 18th birthday we’d go to japan which we didn’t due to financial reasons which i completely understand. But then my friend goes on to whine about not being able to eat what she wanted and buy what she wanted while there and that she had to spend time with her parents instead WHO PAID BTW. So i got mad and called her out for being lucky and that it pisses me off that she whines even tho she always sends us photos of food and rich looking places texting about how amazing it is. And she got angry saying that it’s not her fault my parents are broke and that i wouldn’t understand… so i got mad and yelled a bit about privilege..
