Buying a 2023 RX450hL with 130k km (80k miles) – Is it okay for short city trips?

Hey everyone!

I’m looking at a 2023 Lexus RX450hL (3.5L V6) at an official Toyota/Lexus dealer. The car is in great shape, but it has a lot of "experience" for its age - 130,000 km (80k miles) in just about 3 years. It’s clearly been a highway beast until now.

My situation is a bit different. I plan to drive it only about 8,000 km (5k miles) per year, and most of my trips will be short 5-10 km (3-6 miles) runs around town. I want to keep the car for a long time.

A few things I’m wondering about:

  • Since I'll be doing mostly short trips, should I be worried about the high initial mileage?
  • Is there anything specific I should ask the dealer to service or replace before buying (given the 130k km mark)? I’m thinking spark plugs or transmission fluid?
  • Does the hybrid system/V6 handle these short "grocery getter" distances well, or am I "clogging" a car that’s used to the open road?

I love the V6 and the 7-seat layout for the family, but I want to be sure I’m not buying a "highway-only" car that will struggle with my low-mileage, short-trip lifestyle.

Thanks for the help!
