Channeling Friends & Family enthusiasm?
I'm on the verge of publishing a self-help/memoir. This is my first book.
Conceptualizing/writing it has taken years, and my friends and family have been supporters and beta readers all along. I'm so grateful to have such wonderful people in my life. Many are excited that the book is about to be published (they've been waiting and suffering alongside my process 😄 ). A neighbor is even planning a launch party. Some are saying they want to buy it right away and read the final version. It's amazing to get this support!
Questions:
- How can I channel this enthusiasm into a useful way to market and spread the word about my book to the non-family-and-friends world without violating any kind of ethical/legal agreements?
I was thinking of printing a card for folks thanking them and then outlining the best way to support the launch of this book. What would you put on such a card?
What if they start leaving reviews and Amazon finds out? Will Amazon kick me out? Do I need to figure out a way to prevent my friends and family from leaving reviews?
I plan to use a pseudonym. Obviously, I haven't cared that my friends and family know about the book. It's for the broader world and the toxic folks left behind. But do I need to be more careful about it and try to separate my regular persona from this book? Too late for the launch party though. 😄
Thank you for all your feedback!!!
