Medical Cannabis (legal prescription) providing issue with new job (England)

Hello, apologies, a bit of a long on here but honestly I'm so sad and at a loss.

This is for a new job. I had been offered the role and passed interview, but have not signed any contracts yet. Not started working for them, but was booked onto an induction for next week. They are now no longer offering me the position. They spoke to their public liability and company car insurance providers who said that they would not be able to insure me for working with the company because they are not able to risk assess the medical cannabis.

In my declaration of medication, I put a statement and said that I appreciated that this medicine still has a bit of a stigma and also can potentially impact my alertness. I stated I wouldn't have it whilst at work, whilst I'm on call on and I would make sure that I did not have a dose in the six hours prior to starting work, so that I was ensured it was out of my system, just like you would with alcohol or other medications that may impact your alertness.

They stated this was because they couldn't risk assess how much THC would be in my system at any one point a and therefore could not insure me. I don't see how that is any different to any other potentially drowsiness causing medication. I don't understand how they can do this when there are people with other medications or other legal substances like alcohol that are difficult to risk assess for, but they are still insured to do the role.

This is not specifically a driving job but has a driving element. I disclosed it because due to it being a regulated industry working with vulnerable people, I was not sure if they had drug tests. I was under the impression it is best to declare and deal with it rather than have a surprise drug test and deal with it then. Primarily because I do not want it to reflect in any references or worst case something like DBS if I choose to continue working in this sector.

I am a member of a TU and they have been quite helpful to me in the past, so I will be asking them for advise.

TL; DR - got offered a job, offer got removed because of medical because their insurance provider won't insure me on medical because they "can't risk assess it". No idea where I stand now. Do I give it up for the job?

Medical providing an issue with new job

Hello, apologies, a bit of a long on here but honestly I'm so sad and at a loss, so wondering if there is any similar experience or advise.

I was offered a role I really want, but now they are now no longer offering me the position.

I stated I'm already aware of best practices and managing my treatment. For example, I wouldn't have it whilst at work, whilst I'm on call on and I would make sure that I did not have a dose in the six hours prior to starting work, so that I was ensured it was out of my system, just like you would with alcohol or other medications that may impact your alertness.

I still want the role and don't think it was their fault at all, they seem like a decent employer from my research. I'm considering stopping my treatment but I need to think more if this is what I want. Ideally, I want to challange it so I can have the support of a legal prescription that has given me great theraputic benefits for my ADHD AND be able to work like a normal person!

TL; DR - got offered a job, offer got removed because of medical because their insurance provider won't insure me on medical because they "can't risk assess it". No idea where I stand now. Do I give it up for the job?

Maybe I need to go medicate (ironically) so I can reflect on this more calmly.

[Edit]: This is not specifically a driving job. There is a driving element but this could potentially be discussed.
