I have a GE side by side refrigerator/freezer, model number: GSS25GSHLCSS

I had an issue with temperatures being too hot in both the refrigerator and freezer portions. Upon opening the panel inside the freezer, the defrost coils were absolutely covered in thick ice. I have already replaced the main board. I removed the thermostat, cooled it below the 30°F threshold, and it did in fact show continuity below this temperature. I removed the defrost heater and it did show continuity as well but I went ahead and replaced it too. After installing the new heater, putting the thermostat back on, allowing the freezer to reach proper operating temperature, I attempted to force a defrost cycle, but this new heater still would not produce heat. After inspecting the wires and their adapters that plug into the heater, I noticed they were a bit charred, and placing the multimeter on both of these did not read continuity despite being under 30°F in the freezer. I’ve since cut these connectors off, and I am trying to figure out the best method of replacing them. Does GE sell this entire wiring assembly for the defroster portion, or should I try to find new connectors and crimp them on myself? Additionally, after cutting the connectors off, I still was not getting continuity from these two exposed copper wires.
