I just looked up what usually characterizes Eurogames. I was surprised to see that one of the characteristics that is often mentioned is that there is very little randomness or luck involved.
In my experience many engine-builder games involve drawing cards and if all players are very good at the game it often just seems to be the player drawing the best combination of cards that wins.
Therefore I always thought of Eurogames as being more random than for example political games, where you can influence the game through negotiation.

What are your thoughts on this characterization?
Just to be clear; I'm not saying that Eurogames doesn't require skill. I just have not played many Eurogames where luck didn’t also seem like an important factor.
