Phyrexian stax deck recommendations?

I’m wanting to build a phyrexian deck because I’m obsessed with them rn. I want something smothering so I’m planning to build around stax. My problem now is just finding a commander that encourages it and works for the theme, and recommendations would be oh so lovely xoxo kissy face love ya!

The goal of this deck is to get Lucius out ASAP and just constantly be swinging. But every time I play it I get 6 turns in and I have 3 mana on the board and 1 creature. I’m still testing it but there’s a consistent link between it not playing well at my table but in the archidekt playtester it works as expected. Any advice or have I just gotten unlucky at my table?
