Confession time r/espresso. I’m fairly new to espresso and have a very basic set up. This year I splurged on a Kingrinder K6. the first few weeks I was pulling some amazing (in my opinion) shots. great extraction times, I was dialed in on measurements and was having a great time.
Cue 3 weeks ago and suddenly, crap shots. Pulling too fast, no crema, taste was waay off. So I delved deep on the interwebs and came to the conclusion that I needed to GRIND FINER! So I started adjusting my grinder every shot I made and it just kept get worse. I thought it’s my beans, maybe I got a bad grinder, maybe I just suck at espresso.
Which brings me to today, I’m cleaning my coffee station and find the little cheat sheet for the K6 and discovered my ADHD brain had decided that adjusting the grinder to a higher number meant finer grind…nope it’s the exact freaking opposite. I’m gonna go put myself in aspiring barista time out for the rest of the day.
TL:DR my dumb ass was adjusting my grinder to more course instead of finer.
