I've been quite anxious about this for a while, so I need some advice. I found a console repair business that's been around for at least nine years according to the reviews on google. There are almost 500, many with pictures who are clearly real people and it has 450~ five star reviews. The website claims that repairs take an hour or less and 'can be done while you wait', the reviews back this up.
On Thursday the 23rd of April, I called the business (run out of a home, it seems) scheduled a drop off the next day and the owner told me I could pick it up on Monday. I drop off my switch on Friday and then Monday rolls around and I don't get a call. I assume maybe he's a bit busy that day and my memory isn't great so I can't remember whether he said he would call me and I don't want to seem impatient, so I wait. By Wednesday I decide to call him: he tells me he's not home, I remind him of my console and why I dropped it off before he tells me he'll call me back, so he hasn't repaired it yet. He doesn't call me back on Wednesday or Thursday (30th) so I call him on Friday (1st May). That day there was an error with the calls, he couldn't hear me and I couldn't hear him both times that I called, I hung up the first time after almost 20 seconds and he hangs up the second time. On that day, I thought he was ignoring me and I wouldn't find out about the error until later, so I sent him a text asking when the console will be repaired and when I can pick it up. He doesn't respond so I call him on Saturday and he tells me it's not fixed yet but to it'll be ready soon and to call him the next day at around 12:00 to check in. I also find out it the silence was an error on both sides and not him ignoring me. On Sunday I call him at 12:00 and he's also not home this time and tells me something about the guy he's working with not meeting him for the repair, he tells me to call in two hours, I do and it goes straight to voicemail. I've called him twice today to no response and the first time I left a voicemail (the only one) and the second time I didn't. At this point it's been 11-ish days for since I dropped my console off and I'm worried. I debated just going there and asking for it back but I don't want to be waiting around for hours if he's not home. I haven't paid him yet (he didn't ask).
