Isn't it kinda odd how little advertisement goes on for Death Battle between episodes?
I get that they don't wanna spread themselves too thin now that they're indie, but I feel like it's odd just how little they advertise new episodes or have new content for the community to engage with on the main Youtube channel between episodes. They're not exactly struggling in terms of views, but you'd think they'd want to hype up the new episodes in the 4 weeks it takes for them to come out, y'know?
No Desk of Death Battle, not a whole lot posted on their Youtube, Twitter or Bluesky between episodes, not even something as small as a poll asking who the audience wants to see win or think will win like other people do.
Now admittedly, they do post previews. But like, I kinda stopped watching those when I realized I preferred not to re-watch the same 3 minutes of an analysis before getting something new.
Remember during early season 8 when they posted animations of the track cover to reveal them? I'm not really asking them to go through the effort of doing that every time, hell they didn't even do it for half that season, but wouldn't it be cool if they posted something like "Hey, share your best track names for the upcoming episode" or "Hey, vote on the track name for the next episode, as a treat"? I don't know, small things like that shouldn't be too hard and would bring some more attention to the tracks at least.
It reminds me of this one thought I had during Champions Island, where if I wasn't active on this subreddit, I would never had found out about it while it was going on. They only had 6 Youtube posts + 2 tweets + 2 posts on Bluesky to even let people who don't watch every Death Battle cast know that it was even going on, and I wouldn't blame you for not catching every cast because they center around match ups you might not care about. Hell, I know for a fact that that's not just me, even while the event was knee deep into the brackets, I still saw people on here have to ask others what Champions Island even was.
Compare that to the Tournament of Champions, which at least had Youtube shorts posted, and that alone garnered much more interest and engagement outside of discord circles.
Also, am I gonna sound like an entitled whiner when I say I miss when the commentaries and bloopers were free? I get that they need as much money as possible, but c'mon shouldn't there be more content not locked behind a pay wall for more casual audiences? If they're gonna make us pay for those then surely there has to be a substitute right?
I don't know, does this all just make me look like an ignoramus?
