JS336 Extraction Results
I've seen this clone around for a while, but haven't seen many extraction reports so I thought I'd contribute some data.
TL;DR
Extraction was carried out using Kash's A/B tek on two samples of JS336 outer flesh (skin, spines, and core removed), weighing 46.5g and 41.5g. Yields of crude mescaline HCl were 0.79g (1.7%) and 0.47g (1.13%), respectively.
Long version:
In both extractions, a tea was made using the following process:
- Dried cactus flesh was immersed in boiling diluted vinegar (1/4 cup 5% distilled white vinegar in 7/4 cup distilled water) in a mason jar up to the 32 fl oz mark
- Jar was sealed and left alone for 2 days.
- Jar was opened and filtered through a sieve. The liquid was kept and saved in the fridge, while the cactus flesh was returned to the jar.
- 1 cup of boiling diluted vinegar is added to the cactus flesh, and the mix is blended using an immersion blender until homogenous. Boiling diluted vinegar was added to the jar up to the 32 fl oz mark.
- Jar was sealed, shaken, and left alone for 2 days.
- Jar was opened and filtered through a sieve again. The liquid was a cloudy green color this time, which is ok. This was added to the liquid from the previous steep in the fridge.
- The cactus flesh was returned to the jar and filled up to the 32 fl oz line with boiling diluted vinegar again, this time with no blending.
- Jar was sealed, shaken, and left alone for 2 days.
- Jar was opened and filtered through a sieve, and this time the cactus flesh was discarded.
- Liquid from all 3 extractions was combined and boiled down to 400 mL, then strained.
I like to call this process 'pickle-tek', and it's preferred tek for tea because it works with both dried and fresh cactus, even when the skin/core/spines aren't removed. It also takes little active effort and can be paused for a couple days while the cactus is being pickled.
Once the tea was prepared, it was basified with 50g NaOH and extracted 2x with 400mL xylene. The xylene was separated from the basic tea, washed 2x with small amounts of water, and extracted 2x with 100ml of diluted HCl. The aqueous extracts were dried in a glass dish, scraped up with a razor, dried again, and then weighed.
Overall I think JS336 is a solid clone. My extractions were done with 10-inch segments (they seem to be consistently fat) and the results are consistent with what I've seen from other pachanoi extracts. I also love extracting from pachanoi because it's easy to remove the skin, spines, and core.
I have a bunch of results from different clones in my lab notes so I intend to post more extraction reports.
