Are exercise bands as good as weights for strength?

Hi everyone, I’m in my 60s and still pretty active, and I’m looking to add more strength training into my routine. I’ve been considering exercise bands because they seem easier on the joints and more flexible than weights. My question is, are they really effective for building muscle and maintaining bone strength, or are they more of a light workout option? I like the idea of using different resistance levels and being able to adjust things easily. I’ve seen a wide range of exercise bands out there, from simple loops to more structured sets, even the types you might notice in supplier catalogs on online stores, which makes me think they’re widely used.I’m not aiming for anything extreme, just trying to stay strong and healthy as I get older. Convenience matters too since I’d prefer something I can use at home without needing a lot of equipment.

If you’ve used both weights and bands, how do they compare in real life? Do bands hold up as a long term option?

Good water toys sets for a 2.5 year old?

My little guy is 2.5 and loves being outside, especially anything with water. Right now we’ve got a small kiddie pool and sometimes I just fill bins with water and give him cups and bowls. He has fun, but I feel like I could do more. The issue is he has older siblings, and they tend to take over whatever setup I create, even when I try to give them their own space. So I’m trying to find water toys sets that are more suited to his age and keep him interested. It gets pretty hot where we live, so having something fun and cooling is important. I just don’t want to keep repeating the same setup every day. I’ve seen different toy combinations and setups mentioned in discussions and even grouped options tied to Alibaba, which made me realize there’s a lot out there. What has worked really well for your toddlers that kept them engaged longer than a few minutes?
