LATEST UPDATE: Those 3 games show the same behavior as before the factory reset and software reinstall through safemode. I also installed a new NVME drive (faster than the internal) and moved those games to it. Same behavior. MK1 crashes at startup, Exit 8 has freezes and Silent Hill 2 Remake also freezes sometimes when turning the camera. This troubleshooting shows that the problem is not in the internal drive. Since all other (more than 100) games work as they should for hours, i could also say that it's not the GPU or any other hardware failing. Will keep testing since i have to wait for an answer from the place i bought it.
SMALL UPDATE: Did a factory reset and a complete system reinstall through safemode. Installed only those 3 games to test them out. Until now only Exit 8 has finished and it shows the same freezing as before.
I also tested with other 3 monitors (different brands, resolutions, etc) and it's not an HDMI or monitor problem. Tested also several high quality HDMI cables, including the original one. Same situation.
Other intensive games work without any problem and stutters or freezes. It makes me wonder if it has to do with the games or a NVME problem. But a drive problem would also show the same symptoms on other games (played more than 100 titles without a problem). It could be that i can be more sensible to freezing than everyone else but that would not make sense and Mortal Kombat 1 would not crash on startup. Will follow with updates as i am going along. If anyone has PS Plus and want to help, please try the games i mention down bellow and leave feedback. There could have been an update in recent times. I know that i also played those same games a year ago without any problem. Thanks
MAIN POST: I had a PS5 slim for months and played lots of games without any problem. Before the price hike i got myself a PS5 Pro and everything worked as before, the only difference being the quality of games.
Then i started testing games because i was bored and i noticed some weird behavior that my normal PS5 does not show.
Mortal Kombat 1: installed on both consoles but crashes immediately on the Pro. It gets almost to the tittle screen and spits the crash report. On the normal PS5 it plays normally. On the Pro, i can' even get into the game... every time! Uninstalled it after a few days and also sent the (several) crash reports to Sony (if it matters)
Silent Hill 2 Remake: I played it on the normal PS5 and it had some stutters (due to the engine and lack of dev support) but nothing that would make me stop playing it. Decided to install and keep playing on the Pro and i got hit by severe freezes (some up to 30 seconds). It's not the normal stutter. I turn the camera around and it freezes. Then it comes normal again just to freeze a few seconds later. This happens every 30 seconds or so if i turn the camera. It is unplayable on the Pro.
Yesterday i installed a small game that it is on the PS Plus on my PS5 Pro. It's called "Exit 8" and it's a very small game but also an interesting game. Started it and walking around it had the same freezes that Silent Hill 2 had. I found it odd and went and install it on the normal PS5 and it worked great. I tested for a good 30 minutes to see if it was caused by traversal stutter and on the normal PS5 it worked as it should. The Pro kept having those freezes randomly.
This takes me to my question. Am i alone in this? Could anyone with a Pro test some of those games so i could see if it's a problem on my side or if i got a dud? Exit 8 is pretty small (i think less than 2Gb) and it's a quick test since you only need to walk around for a few minutes.
The console is not overheating. The console is clean. The console is brand new. All other games work perfectly and i play them for hours. No stutters, no freezes, no abnormal heat from the console.
I played GT7, Resident Evil requiem, Death Stranding 1 and 2, God of War Ragnarok, Crimson Desert, Cyberpunk 2077, etc. All of the games worked great on the Pro.
Thanks in advance
