One of my roommates hocks loogies all the time, and it kinda gets on my nerves but I never said anything about it… That is until a few days ago when I asked him to not do it in the shared kitchen sink.

The kitchen has always had a weird smell to it since the day I moved in, but it’s progressively gotten worse and I believe his spitting has something to do with it. (He was here before me so that leads me to believe he’s the cause.)

When I first asked him, he asked why, and said that I wasn’t the only person to ask him not to do so. I responded by saying that it’s highly unsanitary, and he argued it wasn’t since he cleans it by “rinsing it out with water.” (I’ve been living here for 5 months, and I have yet to see him clean the kitchen once. When I first moved in, the microwave could be classified as a biohazard.)

Long story short he agreed, but the next morning he did it again, and said he doesn’t pay rent just to not be able to spit in the sink. He compared him spitting with me watching sports games on our tv in the living room that I’ve never seen him touch once. Am I tripping here????

BTW we all have our own separate rooms with private bathrooms, and his room is the closest to the kitchen area. All I ask is that he does it in his own bathroom, not the shared kitchen sink. AITAH for talking to management if he does it again?

- Sorry for the long post.
