A customer of mine did his own insulation in a 2 story room addition I framed for him. The lower level is slab on grade with 2x4 walls. It is an unconditioned area.
The upper level is a vaulted ceiling sunroom, unconditioned, with 2x4 walls and 2x12 ceiling joist. Exterior walls are T1-11 with tyvek water resistive barrier as per plans.
Walls are all insulated with r-15 Kraft faced batts and vaulted ceiling with r-30 kraft faced.
Sunroom, (upstairs), interior walls are pine car siding and the ceiling is pine beadboard.
Downstairs is unfinished interior walls and ceiling, but there is r-19 between the upper and lower levels.
Inspector said that the unfinished lower level room failed because, and I quote:
"remove paper facing in storage room or cover with approved membrane."
Any ideas why, or what they are talking about?
I am going to call the inspector tomorrow morning to see if they can clear-up what is going on.
Thought I might run that by you guys.
