New to nuzlocking in general and I figured completing a Genlocke would be a good way to dive into it. I don’t have a way to play 3DS or switch games so all games chosen will be played using a GBA/DS emulator.
Rules:
• Standard hardcore nuzlocke rules; first catch on each new area and if it faints, it's dead. Set mode and no items during battles
• Duplicates clause is in effect (and this includes Pokemon that were retired in previous games). A pokemon is retired if it played a significant role in the run, but wasn’t included in the elite 4/champion team.
• Level cap for the strongest mon of the next gym leader/boss fight. PkHex used for rare candies to minimize grinding and to obtain trade evolutions.
• Game ends when I beat the champion, except in Heart and Soul when I beat Red, and in White when I beat N
• Champion Pokemon are transferred to the next game at level 5 and “unlocked” two at a time after each of the fist three gyms. They will also get the following cumulative rewards based on how many games they survived:
• 1 Win - start with a held item
• 2 Wins - become shiny
• 3 Wins - start with hidden ability
• 4 Wins - start with 2 perfect IVs
• 5 Wins - start with 4 perfect IVs
• 6 Wins - start with 6 perfect IVs
• 7 Wins - start fully EV trained
Leg 1: Fire Red
I managed to almost beat the game entirely deathless, but Lance’s Gyarados killed Uganda my Alakazam with hyper beam. I liked using random countries for the nickname theme but I’m going to switch it up for the next leg. Overall I think Fire Red is a pretty manageable game to nuzlocke and I enjoyed using the trade evolution pokemon since I didn’t have access to them traditionally. I’m looking forward to starting Heart and Soul with my champions.
