Introduction Scene.

Context: Elle Woods is sitting in a circle amongst some other peers to introduce themselves on the first day. They're going around and as it comes her turn to speak, she lets out a quick "Me?" and is then met with this reaction.

It's a transition from an otherwise indifferent face to a quick smile, only to switch back to the indifference. The energy in this circle is quite unenthusiastic so it's likely not done to show genuine curiosity or excitement.

What are some reasons people might do this? Have you made a similar expression yourself? How would you interpret it? I've received a good handful of these myself and never understood it. Would be very interested to hear your thoughts!
