Old man alert.

I've been swimming in these waters for a while, and there's one thing that surprises me. Does no one mount their turntables solidly on the wall anymore? Back when vinyl was a necessity and not an option, everyone knew that it was the best thing you could do to improve your set-up. Is this knowledge lost? Ok I'm old! Keep enjoying music. EDIT: I'm considering digging my old Rega Planet out of storage and all my records.

Upgrade?

Hello fellow sufferers. I'm not a raging audiophile like I used to be in the 80/90s. These days I mostly listen to headphones (I'm 61 and have come to accept that my fellow humans have the right not to listen to my music of choice), but I for sure enjoy music like I always used to. I have open backs, closed backs, dynamic as well as planars, but the one I will never part with, is my cheapo Stax SR-207. I picked them up slightly used 17 years ago at a good price. When A/B-ing them with fuller sounding sets, they really do come off as "dry and flat". But they have the highest "gaze-factor"! Gaze-factor is when you don't feel like picking up your phone, don't feel like changing tracks all the time and just find yourself gazing at some invisible point in the ceiling and disappear into the music. Of course, I've thought about upgrading them to a newer (better?) e-stat, but then I listen to my SR-207s and think: Nah. They're just right! Still, I'd like to be convinced that I should let the money roll for a better e-stat. Convince me that I should upgrade!
