Weird cloud LOD + ocean color distortion – any fix?
Hi everyone,
I’m having two graphics issues in DCS and I’m posting this mainly in case someone has already solved it (and so it might help others too).
1) Clouds look “flat” at medium/long distance
At medium and long range, clouds look very plain / low-detail, almost like a flat layer. It kills the realism for me. I tried Atmos X and I honestly don’t see any difference. Also I've tried different reshades.
2) Ocean color distortion (only while playing, screenshots look normal)
This one is even weirder:
When the sea takes up most of the screen, the blue color gets distorted, like a watercolor filter is smeared across the image.
The strangest part is: if I take a screenshot, the screenshot looks completely fine. So it seems like something about how the image is being displayed in real time.
- I tested on other monitors → same issue.
- So it doesn’t seem like a monitor problem.
What I’ve tried
- Different graphics presets / settings combinations
- Atmos X
- Reshade (no change)
- Different monitors
My specs
- GPU: RX 7900 XTX (latest drivers)
- CPU: i5-12400F
- RAM: 40 GB
Current graphics settings
Attached are the settings that give me the best result so far (but I’ve tested pretty much everything).
If anyone has had the same issues (especially the “ocean watercolor” distortion + clouds looking flat at distance), I’d really appreciate any ideas or fixes. <3
