My husband and I are obsessed and really want a specific stuffed animal that’s been out of stock for months. We check everyday to see if it’s back in stock, and we’re so disappointed when it’s not. The stuffed animal is a bit pricy and isn’t very useful for what it is, but we’ve picked out a name for it already and we have matching sweaters for it with our other stuffed animal.
It occurred to me that this must be what people who want children feel like. But I simply can’t imagine feeling this way about children. I have lots of reasons to not want children, and no reasons to want children, but I also know some people simply want children without any rational reasons (like how we want this stuffed animal even though it’s expensive and useless). But just trying to find that want for a baby or child, I don’t find anything at all. No excitement, no disappointment, honestly just indifference and sometimes revulsion.
