Prusa XL Fan Test Issue

Hey there,

I have been printing on Prusa machines since 2019 and have been using my five-toolhead Prusa XL for printing since February.

The one problem I have is with the fan test it performs during the initial calibration. It always produces random results. I don't think there's actually anything wrong with the fans. All of my prints look absolutely fantastic. Granted, they are mostly PLA, but I have had no problems with PETG either.

I contacted Prusa Support via chat shortly after receiving the printer when I first noticed this issue. They talked me through the usual troubleshooting steps. These included setting the colour of the fans to silver, removing the little shroud, and running the test again. Nothing seemed to work, so Prusa Support told me to wait for the next firmware release, saying that they would fix the thresholds of this test then. So I waited.

This release came out. It even had the "tune fan thresholds" in there. I thought the problem was fixed. I flashed the 6.4.1 firmware onto my machine and found that it had the same problem as before. My first question is this: did any of you flash the new firmware and did that fix your fan calibration issues?

I contacted Prusa Support again. The agent walked me through the same troubleshooting steps as before. After these didn't help, they promised to look into the issue and said they would get back to me within 3–4 days. That never happened.

I contacted Prusa Support a third time to ask what had happened to my second case. They told me that no case had ever been opened and said that they would be happy to help me. I went through the same troubleshooting steps again and he promised to get back to me, but he never did.

I am very disappointed with the support I received. I have seen cases from 2023 discussing this fan test issue, and apparently there is still no solution in sight.

Have any of you been able to run the fan test on your Prusa XL consistently?
