I recently interviewed for a position at Amazon for the Area Manager role in Florida. I was really hoping to receive my desired location in Jacksonville - however they assigned me for an AM position in Ocala, Florida.

I have some hesitancy as the position would be for a new launch site. I am wondering if anyone has any experience regarding starting as an AM at a new launch site in Amazon?

I would also be given a short term assignment for 6-10 week assignment at another location to receive training before moving in the newly opened site.

Is there any benefit to starting a newly opened site? I am envisioning it being more difficult as most people there are going to be new employees and no foundation has really been set with everyone trying to learn at the same time.

If so, do you think it would be worth it to try to negotiate my way into a different site? Preferably one that has been open for awhile already with a good foundation of managers / employees already in place?

Do I even have room to negotiate a different location? I was told they would put me on a waitlist for Jacksonville but nothing is guaranteed & I only have a week to either confirm or deny the offer.

I'd appreciate any advice. Thank you!
