I want:

  1. To have a very good and relaxing screen for my eyes, this matters the most. I spend a lot of time studying using screens and I end up with headaches at the end of the day. I need something relaxing.
  2. The device to last for years and years, to have to say goodbye in 5-6 years because of whatever software or physical problem.
  3. To be able to read any pdfs books from internet and any book I want and I want to own and be in control of the documents on my device. I don't want to be limited to an ecosystem, like it happens with Kindle. I also care about privacy.
  4. As much memory as possible. Is 16 GB enough? Just asking.
  5. I also like to read popularising science books occasionally and they have simple figures sometimes on their pages (no complex math symbols)
  6. Decent budget for a student from a country where people are not paid in €/$. I have some money saved, but the value of money here is different and I don't want to spend it for a device that might stop working in 1-5 years. I can't afford that.

I was thinking at Kobo BW recently... but idk... maybe there are better options? I have never had an e-reader before.

I don't buy second hand products I can't check in person because I am afraid of the risks (losing a lot of money) and here I found only Kindle. But I heard Kindle is too limiting. Point 3.

She said in another comment she lives in the West... She said she is happy, she was "lucky" to get a "good" husband... But what about so many unlucky women and girls? Why this shit happens in 2026 and especially in the West? It is one of the most disturbing things I have read on internet. So scary. 😭

I know I should not invade people intimacy... but it's very disturbing... and sad. All these women that believe they should ask husband for permission to study, to have a job, to travel with friends, to visit parents... All these women who believe they should leave jobs and careers and stay home because husbands say so... All these women who believe their main role is housewives and that they should give up on career if they are not able to do both.

And she lives in West.

It's so scary. 😭😭😭
