A Family Memoir: 3 generations of scoliosis (Chapter 1)

A Family Memoir: 3 generations of scoliosis (Chapter 1)

I'm on a writing residency, leaning into memoirs. Thanks for reading, Happy to answer questions - i have a ton of historical research backing this up.

If you have/had an older relative who received scoliosis treatment in the early 20th century, I welcome your stories.

The experience of my father and my son were very different from mine, and I can't help thinking about how scoliosis treatment has changed across three generations. My son's Cobb Angle was well above mine. And my Dad's - well he had Dr. Cobb.

Watch Earth turn in real-time by the motion of stars overhead [OC]

If you ever watched the sun sink into the horizon and thought "I am actually watching the earth turn" then you'll like this.
This unique planetarium app shows the real-time effects of the earth turning, and makes a visceral connection to our planet's motion.

https://smorgasb.org/zenith

the Zenith Planetarium shows only the spot directly over your head, magnified about 180x, and without the Sun's glare. Unlike other planetarium apps, there is no pan or zoom, location setting or direction to look. No controls, just stare up at the sky & watch the stars slide across. (...We put the zen in zenith)

At this extreme magnification we easily see the live turning of the earth. This is not a time lapse - just extreme zoom. The stars on the screen are the actual stars over your head.

We use real images from the PanSTARRS telescope on the summit of Haleakalā volcano, Maui, Hawaii.
